Remarkable Roadrunner
Fami-Lee our PE Coaches are definitely Remarkable Roadrunners and today we're showcasing their work with the Lee Running Club. The PE team is an integral part of our community. Every year they put tons of time and effort into classroom/gym lessons that keep our Roadrunners informed and active. They also run various programs throughout the year like the Fun Run, DrumFit, and Lee Olympics in addition to their afterschool running club. Did you know they are also involved in the production and choreography of every grade level and school-wide showcase?!
"These amazing coaches went out of their way in their personal time in a cold, wet weekend evening to rally the running club and roadrunner community to run the trail of lights. You wouldn’t believe the enthusiasm and energy they ignite. We are so lucky to have them!"
Thank you Jessica Hoffman, Lee Parent & PTA President for submitting this nomination!
Want to nominate someone in our community to showcase their good work in or out of the classroom? Fill out the Remarkable Roadrunner Nomination form. Any Lee Community member can nominate anyone else in our Lee Community!
Texas PTA Rally Day - Feb 24, 2025
by Kelly Griswold, Lee PTA Advocacy Chair
Texas PTA is hosting a Rally Day on Feb. 24 from 8:30 am - 2 pm. The day will start out with a caucus in the morning, followed by a march to the capital and meetings with legislators in the afternoon. Raising basic student allotment, recapture reform, and voucher opposition are part of AISD’s priorities for this legislative session. Interested in attending? Please rsvp here so we can start to plan logistics: sign up here
Join us at the PTA meeting on Friday, December 13 at 8 am, where we’ll have Daphne Hoffacker (Advocacy Chair for Austin Council of PTAs) sharing information about Rally Day, the upcoming legislative session, and more.
AISD Draft Budget Reduction Planning
AISD has presented a three-year budget proposal to the Board of Trustees - which you can find here.
Despite the passing of Prop A, without the Texas legislature increasing basic student allotment during this upcoming legislative session, district leaders must find $92 million to eliminate the budget deficit.
The current plan keeps cuts farthest from the classroom and preserving the student experience. Options previously discussed such as librarians, counselors, nurses and planning periods are off the table — at least for the upcoming school year.
We still have two legislative sessions ahead of us, where we could see an infusion of funds that could keep us from considering those more painful cuts down the road.
You can provide feedback on the current budget plan during the following dates. Both meetings will be available in English and Spanish.
AISD Board Runoff Election - Early Voting through Dec. 10
At Large Position 8 on the AISD Board of Trustees is currently in a runoff election. You can see more about the two candidates here
Dec. 10 – Last day of early voting
Dec. 14 – Election Day
Voting locations can be found here

Winter String Camp @ Austin High School
January 18th, from 9 am-2 pm
Does your student love music? Have they never played a stringed instrument but think they might want to join an Orchestra program in middle school? Then this is the camp for them!
This one day Winter String Camp, led by the two amazing orchestra directors of Small and O’Henry middle schools, allows students to try out different instruments, learn simple music, and even perform in a mini-concert at the end of the day. It’s a wonderful introduction to the joys of being part of an orchestra community.
