Welcome to the 25-26 School Year

Hi Roadrunner families,

I am honored to serve as the President of Russell Lee PTA for the 2025 - 2026 school year. As the school year kicks off, I am filled with pride and excitement for our journey ahead together.  The President has the privilege of identifying a theme each year to serve as a guiding principle for their presidency.  Acknowledging Ms. Sileo’s theme for the 25-26 SY as Legacy in Motion, the theme for Lee PTA supports this intention while fulfilling the mission of all PTAs to give a voice to every child - Strong families, Strong school.  What does this mean? It means each family has something strong and powerful to offer the school community and when we all work together, we have the potential to create a strong school filled with empowered staff and students.  My personal goal is to create a nest for all 440 students, 57 staff and roughly 145 PTA members and counting, to connect and engage within our community this year. I believe when caregivers and teachers feel safe, collaboration happens and when it does we create amazing opportunities for our children. I am eager to connect with other advocates who share this passion.

A little bit about me, I am the CEO of the Copeland family, we are a family of 6 with a span of 10 years.  Our oldest daughter, Kylie, established a love of learning while at Russell Lee Elementary and has moved on to Kealing MS where she is in 7th grade, some of you may know our two middle girls, Quinn is in 4th grade with Mrs. Jones and Camilla joined the marathon of kindergarten roadrunners this year in Ms. K’s class. Last but certainly not least, Cora is our youngest attending both Yoga Peace School and All Austin Coop Nursery school this school year.  Ms. Sileo and our family joined the Russell Lee famiLEE the same year so it's safe to say we’ve run parallel and grown together in our efforts to support each other and our community - I look forward to another decade at Lee! If our paths have not crossed yet, please introduce yourself and know I am happy to connect with you and your family.  Together, we will make a difference in our children’s lives and the Lee community.  On behalf of the Lee PTA Executive board, thank you for your continued support to the Lee PTA.  Here’s to a year of strength and community!

Join Lee PTA 2025–2026!

Small fee, big impact — support your child and school this year. Join us today! www.joinpta.org

Joining the PTA is a great, low obligation way to show that you support the work we do - there's no additional time or volunteer commitment when joining.

We're so close to earning the Early Bird Award - help us reach this goal by joining by August 31! www.joinpta.org

Konstella

This will be our second year using Konstella as Lee Elementary school and PTA’s official, private communication network. Konstella is the primary location for announcements, news, and calendar updates, allowing parents, teachers, faculty, and the PTA Executive Board to easily and quickly reach the right people and communicate in a secure environment.

You can find more information on adjusting notifications settings, syncing calendars, how to sign up for weekly digests, and finding other parents at Lee on the PTA’s website here

Invitations to classrooms should be out by next week - allowing you to communicate directly within your classroom and view class rosters.

If you still need access to Konstella, please go to Konstella.com and click on "Find Your School" on the upper right.

Lost and Found - Label It, Don’t Lose It!

Don't forget to label your child's water bottle, backpack, lunch box, and jackets with their first AND last name. This is the best way to ensure your child's things find their way back to their classroom. Lost and Found is located inside the school so students can access it easily; parents must check in at the front office. Items may be donated within 2 weeks if Lost and Found is full.

Play & Roll Kids Event with VOW Jiu-Jitsu on 8/30

Join us on August 30 at 3 pm for our first fundraising event of the year!

We’re teaming up with VOW Kids to bring an exciting, movement-based experience for kids — all while raising money for our school. This event gives every child a chance to feel seen, supported, and brave enough to try something new! All Lee students welcome and no prior experience necessary.

Tickets: suggested donation of $15-25 per child

Location: VOW Kids, 5555 N Lamar Blvd

Your kiddo gets to experience a one-of-a-kind class while Lee gets to keep 100% of ticket sales. It’s a win-win for all!

There will also be opportunities to work indoors, so please don’t let the heat scare you away! All ages welcome! BYOT (Bring Your Own Tools)

Get to know our staff + Wishlists

Our amazing teachers and staff do SO much for our school - you can find out more about our teachers and staff by checking out our website here and check out their wishlists while there!

The PTA would like to offer the opportunity for families to treat staff too! These treats will go into their staff lounge for a midday “pick me up” or those days they just need to feel a little extra love.  If you would like to contribute to that please make purchases off the Lounge wishlist and the treats will magically appear in the lounge.

Back to School Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation Love is being sprinkled throughout the school!

Stephanie Chang, Lee PTA’s appreciation chair, has been very busy making sure the staff were feeling the love and appreciation for coming back after this summer!

Stephanie arranged a Back to School event for staff at High 5 where teachers got to catch up about how they spent their summers and meet new Lee team members while bowling! A big thank you to High 5 bowling for sponsoring this event the staff truly enjoyed this event!

Stephanie also worked with Freebirds to set up an amazing lunch spread for staff to have before Meet the Teacher on Aug 15, 2025! Thank you Freebirds for supporting our staff!

Lastly, staff were able to pick up a favorite snack, stationary - pens, markers, sharpies, stickers and so much more as a welcome back to school treat!

Thank you to High 5 Bowling and Freebirds for sponsoring these events.
