Welcome
We're down to only 12 days of school remaining. Those 12 days are packed with end of year activity including MAP testing, some final field trips, fun projects, and of course Color Days, Eastwoods trips, and our biggest event: Yearbook Signing + end of year celebration + the new Spirit Swap! Please drop off your gently used Lee spirit gear now through 5/25.
Reminder, library books are all due this week! See more from Ms. Day in her library updates below.
And Friday, May 16th is the first day of Lee Color Days--students are encouraged to wear red. See the full schedule below but know the first 7 days follow the ROYGBV followed by polka dots, plaid/stripes, & rainbow.

And we're launching our End of Year GiftCrowd for Teachers and Staff. In response to feedback, we’ve updated the giving categories to allow you to support specific groups rather than a single school-wide gift. Contribute here or scroll down for more info.
5/15 - PTA Meeting

Fami-Lee please join us for the final PTA meeting of the academic year. This is our chance to say farewell and thank you to the outgoing PTA Executive Board members, most of whom have reached their term limits, two years.
Library Updates - all books due!
by Jenny Day, Librarian

You know that light at the end of the tunnel? It is getting bright! And as soon as we get all the library books back on on the shelves it will be even brighter!
Please help your child remember to return their library books by next
Friday - May 16th.
Thank you for all your support this year - it's been amazing.
Also, many of you contributed to a fantastic birthday present for me. I am tardy in expressing my thanks, but I am most humbled. Our Fami-Lee is a most special group! Thank you so much. <3
5/16 - Film Kids Film Festival

by Andreas Streuli, Film Kids Instructor
Come out to support the Lee Film Kids students as they showcase this semester's short film projects followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Friday, 5/16 @ 3:30 PM
Lee Auditorium
All family, friends, and faculty are welcome to attend and see our amazing work from this Spring season.
We will also have T-shirts and hats for sale for $20 each.
Thank you for all your support this semester. I hope you can make it to see these proud filmmakers in action!
Advocacy Update
by Kelly Griswold, Lee Advocacy Chair
Tell your reps to pass HB2 today!
House Bill 2, passed by the House on April 16, would provide essential funding to help schools cover rising fixed costs like utilities, insurance, and transportation, and to support the staff who make learning possible.
This bill is the bare minimum to help schools cover the rising costs of fixed expenses like utilities, insurance, and fuel- necessities that keep the doors open. The Senate will need to pass this bill prior to June 2 to give our schools this much needed funding.
Please reach out to your reps and tell them you expect them to support HB 2 as passed by the House.
Texas PTA has an action alert that streamlines reaching out to your reps here.
HB4 Update
The previous accountability bill was substituted for one that is much more favorable for our schools - and was voted out of committee and will move onto the House floor for a vote. The current bill replaces STAAR with a MAP-type assessment will provide quicker feedback and to better track student growth based on a nationally normed-referenced test. This test will be adaptive, so if the kid is not currently on grade level, their final assessment won't be on material they aren't prepared for or have progressed beyond, giving an opportunity to truly measure a student’s growth. It also allows districts to opt in to alternative accountability measures, like the percentage of kids who are involved in the arts or extracurriculars, for example, as part of the A-F accountability system. It will also limit the number of assessments only to what is federally mandated, although it is still high-stakes.
You can read more about the update to this bill here.
Last Day of the Session is June 2.
AISD Board Recaps
Take a minute to read both of the AISD Board Recaps below, and reach out to your trustees if you have any questions.
Roadrunner Spirit Swap
Calling all Roadrunners! While you're working on your spring cleaning, why not help out your Fami-Lee.

Drop off your clean, gently used, outgrown Roadrunner merch to the Roadrunner Spirit Swap box in the main office between now and May 25th for a Roadrunner clothing swap!
This is also a great chance to donate those kinder tie dye shirts to next year's Kinder Dinosaur program.
We will collect and sort out donations, and host a Roadrunner Spirit Swap at the End of Year Yearbook signing party at Central Market on May 29th.
This is open to everyone, regardless of if you donated an item(s) or not. All items will be free at the Spirit Swap on 5/29.

If you’d rather give directly to a teacher or staff member, you’re welcome to do so at your convenience.
