Roadrunner Rundown | Week 5

Table of Contents

Welcome to the week 5 Roadrunner Rundown! Today is the start of Hispanic Heritage Month which traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.

We've got lots of things to share with you in this week's Rundown from Roadrunner Rally to details on the first Roadie Workday as well as the Enrichment Survey.

As always we've collected a list of upcoming events of interest and various other community news!

Roadrunner Rally needs your support!!

We're halfway through the month and almost halfway to our goal.

Please donate today to help us reach our goal by the end of September!

Roadrunner Rally helps the PTA pay for events like Lee Olympics, Teacher Appreciation, Geography Day, as well as class field trips, guest speakers, classroom expenses, and so much more! We're asking for $100 per student, but we appreciate any amount!

Have you been wondering how to contact other parents to schedule play dates or to ask questions? We've put together some instructions on how you can make your own information visible and how you can find other people's contact info in Parent Square

Make your contact info "visible"

On your Parent Square home page find your name on the top right-hand corner and click on it.

Then click on "My Account".

On the page that follows, click on "hidden" to toggle it so that your email or phone will be "visible"

Contact Info for other Lee parents/caregivers?

From your Parent Square homepage, hover over "explore" then click on "Directory." From the right-hand navigation, click on the name of a teacher or grade level to find community members associated with that teacher or grade level.

Upcoming Events of Interest

September is full of opportunities to engage with the Lee Community!

September 15 - October 15 | Hispanic Heritage Month

AISD is honoring Hispanic Heritage Month with a monthlong profile series spotlighting Hispanic heroes and path breakers who have influenced Austin ISD in some way.

National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.

The observation started in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period starting on September 15 and ending on October 15. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402. (source)

Studio Times (August 21, 2023)

Library Lines (September 8, 2023)

PE Newsletter (September 8, 2023) - A minor correction to the PE Newsletter is that the Marathon kids kick-off was moved to next week due to weather. The marathon miles tracking will start next week.

EVENT RECAPS

1st PTA Meeting!

The PTA E-Board was honored to host the first PTA meeting of the year! We covered a variety of topics which you can review in the meeting agenda and slide deck online. As a reminder, we're setting up a PTA member login where you will find PTA meeting minutes and financial reports. We think that will be ready to launch in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Thanks for reading this week's Roadrunner Rundown. As always feel free to share your comments or feature suggestions with us at communications@russellleepta.org.
