Welcome
Join us today, 8/28 at 5 pm on the Lee Playground for our first Final-Lee Friday! If you can't make it this week - we're planning to do these the last Friday of every month - so we'll catch you next time!

And mark your calendar for Back to School Night next Thursday, Sept. 3 from 6- 7 pm. Teachers will present the same information during two 30-minute sessions, giving families with multiple children the opportunity to attend more than one presentation.
Teacher + Staff Appreciation
As we adjust to this new school year - our teachers are adjusting to decreased planning/break time and increased class sizes. Ms. Sileo said one way we can support our teachers is just to reach out to them - share a thank you, a funny anecdote your kids told or something your kid loves about them, anything that might brighten their day. These personal connections and words of gratitude mean so much right now.
You can also submit a RAVE nomination (Recognizing All Valuable Employees) to the district for any teachers or staff that you'd like to recognize - we have some incredible people at our school, so bookmark this link and use it throughout the year!
Principal's Coffee, PTA, and CAC Meetings
Today's Principal's Coffee had a phenomenal crowd - we'd love to keep the engagement going throughout the year.
There are typically up to three meetings a month where you can hear directly from Ms. Sileo and our PTA leaders - making even one meeting is a great way to stay plugged into our school community.

Chromebooks Policy Update
All the Chromebooks have been distributed to the students. 1st - 5th are 1 to 1, Kinder is 3 to 1. The Chromebooks stay at school, they do not go home.
Over the summer AISD changed the damage fees for the chromebooks. We no longer offer "Free" first offense accidents. Last year, we had 32 "free" accidents - cracked screens.
Now each offense is going to results in repair fees:
1st offense is $50
2nd offense is $100
3rd offense is $200
Please reinforce with your child the importance of taking care their chromebook. Next week, I will be reviewing the Responsible Use Policy with all students. This is required by AISD and the students will sign off that we reviewed the policy. You can look it over here.

Call to Action: Comment on Social Studies Curriculum Changes
The State Board of Education (SBOE) is proposing a major rewrite of Texas social studies standards. These changes would affect what Texas students learn about American and Texas history, government, civics, economics, geography, and other important subjects, including which historical events, people, and ideas receive emphasis and how they are presented.
The remaining social studies standards are expected to be considered by the SBOE from August 31 through September 4.
Texas Freedom Network has more details and a call to action form here.
Share your Legislative Priorities with Texas PTA
Now is your chance to help shape the Texas PTA's legislative priorities for the 90th Session of the Texas Legislature. Please take a few moments to complete this survey by Wednesday, September 9. It should take less than 15 minutes of your time.
Lost and Found
Don't forget to label your child's water bottle, backpack, lunch box, and other gear
with their first AND last name. This is the best way to ensure your child's things find their way back to their classroom.
Lost and Found is located inside the school so students can access it easily; parents must check in at the front office. Items may be donated within 2 weeks if Lost and Found is full.
