Roadrunner Rundown - Roadrunner Fun Run!
Roadrunner Families, This week’s Rundown is coming to you early to remind all families about our Roadrunner Fun Run tomorrow. Students from all grade levels will be running around the perimeter of our campus with a final lap around our newly refurbished track. Family members who would like to cheer on their Roadrunners are welcome to gather along our front sidewalk. Please remember that masks are required on all AISD campuses if you plan to cheer on your Roadrunner. Special thanks to Coach Rangel for getting everyone ready for this very exciting event and doing such a great job prioritizing fitness for our students!
The Fun Run Schedule is:
2nd Grade 8:00am-8:45am
Kindergarten 8:50am-9:35am
5th Grade 9:40am-10:25am
1st Grade 10:30am-11:15am
3rd Grade 12:30pm-1:15pm
4th Grade 1:20pm-2:05pm
6th Grade 2:10pm-2:55pm
As we transition to Stage 3 in Austin/Travis County, we will be offering more after school enrichment opportunities for our families. We are currently working to get a soccer program and running club approved by AISD and will share more information about registration for these opportunities as they become available. We are also actively preparing for this year’s flu season and will be holding a Flu Clinic for students on November 8th. The registration form is attached to this Rundown and we hope all families will take advantage of this vaccination event.
Lastly, we are very excited to announce that we are collaborating with our PTA to hold our Fall Carnival later this month. This decision was made as Austin transitions into Stage 3 and we continue to see no evidence of campus transmission of COVID 19. While we are continuing to finalize all of the details, this event will be held entirely outdoors on Saturday, October 30th and be in coordination with our annual Book Fair presented by everyone’s favorite Librarian, Jenny Day. We will be staggering the start of the event for different grade levels to control the number of Roadrunners who are present on campus at any time. We will not be serving food and the AISD mask requirement will be in place during the Carnival. We are planning to have a Pumpkin Carving Contest, a wide variety of safe carnival games and some creative ways to show off their amazing costumes. The carnival experience will conclude with a Trunk or Treat for Roadrunners of all ages and we will be putting out the call for volunteers through our PTA. While we are not out of the woods when it comes to our efforts to counter the impact of COVID 19, we see the strong need for the return of some of the fun and engaging events that our school has been known for over the years. We will be sharing more information about the Carnival soon, but wanted everyone to know the good news and to mark your calendars for early afternoon of Saturday October 30th.
Have a wonderful weekend, John Hewlett Principal - Russell Lee Elementary School John.Hewlett@Austinisd.org 512-414-1117 @LeeRoadrunners
